Broken pottery shards or sherds, much like the clay they are made from, hold memories and history whether found in the mud of the River Thames or in the ghost of Seneca Village on the grounds of New York's Central Park or in a box shoved in the back of a closet, basement or attic. They evoke a sense of nostalgia even when we know no details of their owners and their journey. They are absorbent artifacts. With these bowls I take the broken and make something whole again.
All pieces are hand-built and are not perfectly symmetrical. They are often quirky in shape and show the touch of my hands.
